Thames Valley Council of Home and School Associations
The Thames Valley Council of Home and School Associations is the coordinating body that promotes communication and collaboration among local Home and School Associations and increases the capacity for effective parent engagement and leadership through the local Home and School Association.
We hold regular meetings that further promote the success and well-being of children and youth through parent engagement and parent leadership.
We also act as a liaison for local Associations and TVDSB.
A primary task of Thames Valley Council is to develop and strengthen Home and School Association leadership. Council meetings and activities provide excellent opportunities for information sharing and TVDSB updates, connecting with other Association leaders, and to receive Association materials and supports. TVCHSA strives to model good leadership practices such as: following proper procedures, effective meeting strategies, guest speakers, and hold meetings that are conducted thoughtfully and effectively. Home and School Association leadership development programs conducted by Council enhance Home and School Association activities by providing supports for well-informed, dedicated, and confident leaders.
Thames Valley Council:
Promotes and models the objectives of OFHSA,
Supports local Association efforts within Thames Valley,
Identifies schools and parent leaders that desire to form an Association, assist with the organization of a HSA
Assists the local Associations in understanding and carrying out their role,
Provides parent leadership development and training,
Coordinates parent involvement and parent engagement,
Enhances communication among local Associations, the Council, and the school board,
Represents the interests of HSA within TVDSB, and other appropriate organizations or advocacy groups,
Provides a forum for information,
Develops a cooperative relationship with the school and district administration and Trustees,
Works in cooperation with OFHSA to promote “the best for each student”.
